The Flag Lives On!
Meet Chloe Harvey and Kaylah Harvey
Owners of Daton African American Flags, LLC

Kaylah Harvey (Left) and Chloe Harvey (Right)
Chloe Harvey and Kaylah Harvey are Baltimore natives and artists. Growing up with a family of educators allowed them to have different appreciation and understanding for the art of education. The ability that art and education have to reach people on a deeper level and its ability to create community is something that they have always known to be true.
“Our Mission is to amplify and extend the original purpose of The African American Flag to a new generation of black stars through visual media and the arts with a focus in storytelling and Black American culture preservation. We have always been a vast community full of many stories, creations, and contributions to the betterment of society. Our goal is to use our parents’ beautiful invention to acknowledge and celebrate the contributions African Americans have made to our country and community.” - Chloe and Kaylah Harvey

Through her work with Daton African American Flags, LLC, Chloe is committed to making the arts accessible, engaging, and rooted in community. Whether it’s bringing audiences back to a time of collective nostalgia, reimagining black history onstage, or mentoring young creatives, Chloe sees theatre as both an art form and a movement that encourages authentic self expression and expansion.
Her vision for The African American Flag is for it to serve as an inspiring symbol and constant reminder for African Americans to recognize their abundant worth and strive towards their greatest potential.

Kaylah Harvey
Kaylah Harvey is a Baltimore based theatre artist, filmmaker and playwright. Growing up around the Baltimore arts scene, Kaylah was quickly infatuated by the beauty of storytelling through visual and performing arts. She began her creative expression through visual arts and theatre classes in her formative years which inspired her to pursue art and storytelling as a career. In 2024, she earned her Bachelor's of Science in electronic media and film with a minor in theatre studies at Towson University.
Her work focuses on telling the stories of marginalized groups and communities that are often underrepresented and misrepresented in the media. Through Daton African American Flags LLC she hopes to inspire her community with the same messages of hope and resilience that her parents did using her knowledge of storytelling and her love for the arts to create spaces for African Americans from all walks of life to feel celebrated, loved and seen.
